A Dog Licence is required for pet dogs over six months of age. This is purchased from your Parish Constables office and must be renewed every January.
Dog Identification – Guernsey law states: “A person who keeps a dog in respect of which dog tax is chargeable under the Dog Licences (Guernsey) Law, 1969/79, shall ensure that the dog, while on a public highway, is wearing round its neck a collar bearing on it, or having attached to it, a disc made of metal or other durable material bearing on it, in clearly legible letters, the initial letters of the Christian names of that person followed by the surname of that person and the distinguishing letter of the parish in which that person has his ordinary place of residence.”

This is the minimum identification required by Guernsey law, other information is optional i.e., phone number, address etc.
You must clean up after your dog in all public places. Specific bins for dog litter are provided around the Island.
Between May 1st and September 30th dogs are not permitted on these beaches: L’ancresse/Pembroke, Fermain, Petit Bot, L’Eree, Vazon (Northern end), Cobo, and Port Soif. There are signs at access points.
